Isa Brito's show "Passengers", whose title references the constant stream of people that come and go from the city, celebrates the true nostalgic grunge of 80's NYC. The aim with its bold, clean branding? To create a bridge between the past and the present, modernity and grit, and an absence of color to allow the photographs to speak for themselves. The physical connection between Brito and her title's text in the lockup, which is a major feature in all collateral pieces, is meant as the connection between the photographer and her mostly unknown (at least to her) subjects, even if just for a moment. The result is an unapologetic statement from image to design.
